
Bringing home a praying mantis doesn’t require a shopping cart full of expensive equipment. Compared with many exotic pets, mantises have fairly simple setups.
Simple doesn’t mean you can put one in a jar and call it a day, though.
The right enclosure, ventilation, climbing surfaces, appropriate humidity, and correctly sized live prey all matter. Molting makes enclosure setup especially important because a mantis needs enough vertical space to hang upside down and shed its old exoskeleton safely.
